Air conditioning systems are rated for sizing provisions based on Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, or SEER. Air Conditioning operating efficiency, or the cost of operation, is measured by the Energy Efficiency Rating (EER). 95% of the Air Conditioning Systems we offer are manufactured utilizing the new environmentally friendly refrigerant, R-410A. The majority of air conditioners installed prior to 2007 use the old refrigerant, R-22. The use of this refrigerant has been discontinued, and will no longer be available for sale in the United States in the near future. What does this mean to you? If your air conditioner is more than a year old, you may have difficulty finding refrigerant for it. Additionally, the scarcity of R-22 refrigerant in the United States is causing the price to skyrocket. So, if you are in the market for a new air conditioner, you should proceed with caution, and be wary of “great deals” on old stock. It may be a good price, but could potentially cost you much more afterward.
